the risks of writing bernie in
I saw this post and some of the responses and it really freaked me out. There’s very important stuff that a lot of people don’t seem to know.
Does Bernie still have a chance to win the Democratic nomination? Yes, but if Hillary wins, all of you need to know that by writing in Bernie’s name or abstaining from voting altogether, YOU RISK HANDING TRUMP THE PRESIDENCY.
- Writing Bernie in would effectively split the Democratic vote and give Trump an advantage. Vote splitting has happened as recently as 2000 (that’s how George W. Bush won the election that year).
- And that’s assuming Bernie would even be an eligible write-in candidate in the first place. This article is pretty old, but it does a good job at explaining write-in votes. Some states don’t allow write-in presidential candidates at all. Others require candidates to register or submit some form of affidavit.
- Bernie has already said that he won’t run as an Independent if he loses to Hillary. Assuming he sticks to that plan, any write-in votes for Bernie would be tossed out.
A direct quote from Bernie himself:
“If it happens that I do not win that process, would I run outside of the system? No, I made the promise that I would not and I will keep that promise. And the reason for that is I do not want to be responsible for electing some right-wing Republican to be president of the United States.” (x)
Please, everyone, do some research before casting your vote. Make an informed decision. Be aware of the possible consequences.
if my husband doesn’t cry when he sees me on our wedding day I will softly kick him in the shin until he sheds a tear
Have you ever wanted to sit down and talk to the person who really hurt you and be like Why?? Why did you waste my time?? etc.🤔👀
That And vice versa .
